I have written about traditional needlearts on most of my other blogs and posts. So on this one I would like to share some information about my OTHER passion: Gourd Carving and Decoration.

What Are Gourds?
A gourd is a vegatable that is grown on a vine much like a squash. When it is dried in the winter, it forms a hard shell which is perfect for carving or painting.
Gourds have been used for centuries for a large variety of items such as: Water carriers and dippers, bowls, baskets, jars for herbs, spices, teas, and medicines, musical instruments, and just about anything you can imagine. They come in various sizes and shapes so you only need to look at the shape and decide What it will be.
Gourd Carving is an ancient art and beautful specimens can be found all over the world. They have found decorated and carved gourds in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and Centrall America, North America ( Native American) and the Pacific Islands such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, etc.

I set up a photo album for gourds. You can see some of my hand carved gourds there.
Not sure if you can add your photos to it, but you can try.
